Hello fellow travelers!
Is it too late to say happy New Year? Either way we hope all is well, and wish you the best for the upcoming 11.5 months (including some amazing trips). We wanted to share updates on what our next adventure will be, which is happening in only 20 short days! We are so excited to be taking off for a long trip to the incredible city of Dubai next month!
This will definitely be the furthest we have travelled together. We will be flying in an A380 plane for the first time, so we’re curious to see how the largest commercial airplane looks and feels on the inside.
What have we planned so far?
We first started by booking flights and lodging.
We will be staying the first couple of days on a palm-shaped island called the Palm Jumeira. There, we mostly plan on relaxing and enjoying the nice weather poolside. We will then be renting a car for two days to go out of town. We booked a day full of activities at the Bab Al Shams desert resort, including a camel ride and a 4×4 dune tour. The next day we plan on driving to Abu Dhabi and visiting the world-famous Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. We will then return to Dubai and stay downtown, near the Burj Khalifa, which is the world’s tallest building. For the remainder of the week, we will actively visit all the outlandish Dubai landmarks.
Our daily schedule is pretty much locked down at a high level. We have a rough idea of what neighborhoods we will be visiting on each day, and have already booked the activities that were the most likely to sell out and derail our plans. We still have some work to do, but we are already in a very good shape!
Whats left to do?
We need to review our schedule again and purchase tickets for the rest of the activities we have planned (tickets to the top of the Burj Khalifa, the Miracle Gardens, etc.). We also need to research and book restaurants. Finally, I need to figure out what I’ll be wearing, as women must cover up more in the United Arab Emirates than in the US.
