Last day: Strolling on Canyon Road and taking Turquoise Trail home
Finally on the last day, we took a walk down Santa Fe’s Canyon road, famous for all it’s art galleries. It was a nice leisurely morning stroll. We thoroughly enjoyed checking out the large variety of local artists’ work, exhibited both inside and out.
Unfortunately, it was then time to start heading home already. Instead of the freeway, we took the Turquoise Trail – a scenic road spanning from Santa Fe back to the Albuquerque airport. The drive was a bit longer but much more enjoyable. On the way, we stopped at one last location: Origami in the Garden. This free art exhibit hosts giant metal origami sculptures, scattered on a beautifully landscaped plot of land.
In only 4 days, we were able to discover many beautiful places across New Mexico. Though we were not able to cover the entire state, we came home very happy with our trip. I would highly recommend New Mexico as a destination for anyone looking for a short, fun road trip.
